DRONE READY SPANISH MACKERAL LIVEBAIT

DOUBLE 8/0 VMC O’SHAUGHNESSY HOOKS AND 8/0 LIVEBAIT HOOK ON 130LB WIRE TO 90 LB JAPANESE MONO  

This Rig is Drone Ready for use. Deployed from beach or rocks.  It is made to be anchored to bottom by lead/grapnel sinker. I strongly recommend suspending the rig  under a float attached to the drone connection loop  to lift the bait off the bottom. Just remember the float dosnt have to be on the surface (it can be sunk), its just there to lift the bait off the bottom. Once your rig is deployed you will need to wind in the slack to stretch out the rig and stop any tangles, then slacken your line to allow the float to rise and lift that bait up.   (see diagrams)

Suitable for live Tailor, Yakkas, Fusiliers, Dart… Barracuda,  Whatever the going bait is in your area around a 20-30 cm sizes

 The trick is with this rig to keep your livie alive and free swimming by putting the livebait hook into the nose or just behind the fishes head into the shoulder and only one of the Ganged hook into the livies back end. The remaining gang should be free.

The mono trace to the wire trace keeps all the snap swivels and hardware away from the bait. Mackerel can be finicky when it comes to swivels etc.  The sinker trace provided is 5m, cut it or add to it as required to keep your bait off the bottom where you need it.

This rig can also be used for super slow live bait trolling under a float. You can slowly retrieve this rig back to shore dragging the lead along the bottom, with the float keeping the bait off the bottom.
