DRONE READY SPANISH MACKERAL LIVEBAIT FLOATLINE AND SLOW TROLL RIG

DOUBLE 8/0 VMC O’SHAUGHNESSY HOOKS AND 8/0 LIVEBAIT HOOK ON 105LB WIRE TO 90LB JAPANESE MONO  

This Rig is Drone Ready for use. I strongly recommend suspending it under a float (not provided). We have adapted our Spanish Mackerel Livebait rig to be now suitable for Drone Fishing. It is rigged to allow drone connection, float connection, spaced out for minimising tangles and presents the bait effectively. It is made off wire where it counts. It can also be weighted as required to get the bait down a bit and allow the bait to be slow trolled back to shore. You can run this rig at 3m depth simply by attaching a float to the drone connection loop tag. For deeper bait setting use a sliding float rig. (see diagrams)

Suitable for live Tailor, Yakkas, Fusiliers, Dart… Whatever the going bait is in your area for around a 20-30 cm.

 The trick is with this rig to keep your livie alive and free swimming by putting the livebait hook into the nose or just behind the fishes head into the shoulder and only one of the Ganged hook into the livies back end. The remaining gangs should be free.

The long 3m of mono trace to the wire trace keeps all the snap swivels and hardware away from the bait. Mackerel can be finicky when it comes to swivels etc. You will notice a small piece of mono attached to the midway swivel to tie on a lead if required. When the current is running,  or you want the bait to sit a bit deeper.  

This rig can also be used for super slow live bait trolling under a float or balloon when deployed by drone. You can also set the depth of the rig by using a running float rig where the float can slide up and down the rods line to a set stopper bead. (Check out the diagrams for setups and methods.)
