SWORDFISH RIG

LARGE ARROW SQUID SPECIAL

This rig has been designed to be used with large whole Squid baits for Swordfish. I have built into this rig 2 x adjustable sliding/spacing crimps combined with a lumo bead to be positioned in the top of the squid hood. This allows for interchanging and ease of rigging different size baits without having to cut the rig or re crimp spacers etc. By using these sliding spacer crimps and bead all the weight/ drag is taken on the tip of the squid hood. This keeps the squid swimming straight, and well-presented during deployment and whilst drifting in the current.  

The sliding crimps also allows for easy positioning of the rigging bead without the need of waxed thread to be binded to the trace to keep the bead in place. This enables the hook to be loosely positioned through the legs /beak hole without bending the squid causing twisting and spinning. This bead can then be easily sewn into the squid hood with a couple of stitches if need be. (a small cable tie works just as well). If you have good quality fresh squid this rig reduces the need for sewing and stitching. The crimps and beads can be easily slid/repositioned for different size squid baits. 

Also included to alternatively rig the Circle hook outside the Squid is a small rigging stem/ trace. The crimps and bead are also adjustable to enable the hook to be positioned against or spaced away from the bait. The Hook can either be connected directly to the extra rigging cable thru the pre made loops or how the angler sees fit..
  Included is 1x diamond flashing light, add as many as you need. I have also included a small flashing blue light that sits inside the squid slightly illuminating it to imitate that pulsing colour change that deepwater squid do thus making it appear alive.

This rig can also be used for different bait types: Fresh Fillets, Whole baitfish, Whole Gemfish, belly flaps etc. Just apply the same process below for different baits as required.

1-    lay the rig alongside the squid that has had beak removed and head sewn to mantle, slide the spacer crimps and bead (tight but adjustable, may need slight tightening with crimping pliers) to a position so the hook will be positioned in the squid head/legs. 
2-    Then pull the rig from the top crimped loop thru the head/legs and mantle with a long rigging needle of sorts into that pre- set position.
3-    Sew / sinche down / cable tie the top of the mantle to the Trace and positioning bead to hold everything in position
4-    Slide  the skirt over the trace and squid if wished to be used. (you may need to cut the skirt or remove squid flaps to your preference.)

•     1 x Small flashing blue light (goes inside squid when hook rigged internally)
•     LUMO or PINK/BLUE skirt ( pick an option)
•    Lumo sleeve chaffe protector
•    Lumo bead for internal rigging and spacing of Arrow Squid
•     Adjustable slider/spacer crimps to aid rigging and spacing
•    Extra - short rigging stem/ trace for Circle hook external rigging.
